The Violin Bass is a full-hollow, dual pickup, 22 frets electric bass, featuring arched top and back, bent sides and a 770mm medium scale.
If ever there was a German bass design that had the ability to forge its way into the line-up of American bass classics, then would have to be the violin bass. The sound of this instrument is associated with countless hits by the Beatles, not to mention with the Liverpool legend´s various solo projects.
With its own Violin Bass, Duesenberg introduces a different interpretation of the classic instrument, proving once again that classic design and modern features can go hand in hand, and quite nicely at that.
Thanks to a neck that is wider than that of its forerunner (string spacing is 18mm at the bridge), even experienced bass players can play this excellent sounding bass because of the string spacing (18mm) in their accustomed manner, while at the same time enjoying the four-stringed instrument’s lighter weight and smaller scale length (770 mm).
The Violin Bass comes equipped with impressive features and is constructed according to traditional techniques – no sustain block, with an arched spruce top as well as flamed maple back and sides. Cream-colored binding runs around the body, neck and headstock, while the instrument’s nickel-plated brass saddles are fully adjustable. Two Duesenberg custom bass humbuckers, operated by two volume controls and one master tone control, are positioned in precisely the right locations.
All our instruments are fitted with our own hardware, which you will only find on a Duesenberg. We design it with attention to even the smallest details to create truly unique instruments from tuner buttons to jack plates.
With the Starplayer Bass, the strings are anchored to a nickel-plated, solid and completely adjustable brass bridge, while, at the other end of the instrument, Duesenberg Z-tuners allow for quick string replacement and optimal tuning stability.
All our fretboards are carefully pleked and finished by hand for optimum playability and the smooth feel they are famous for.
We would be happy to make yours.
